Listings

How do I create a listing?

You must be logged in to create a listing. Click "+ List Yours" in the top navigation, complete the listing form with your vehicle's details, upload up to 7 photos, and select your plan. Free (Geaux) listings are available to private sellers. Geaux Featured adds a gold badge and top placement for $2/mo.

How do I edit or delete my listing?

Go to your Dashboard, find the listing under "My Listings," and click Edit or Delete. You can also open the listing directly and use the edit option while logged in as the owner.

How many free listings can I post?

Private sellers on the free Geaux plan may post up to 3 listings in any rolling 12-month period. Resellers and dealers should use the Geaux Pro plan, which has no listing limit.

Why was my listing removed?

Listings may be removed for violating our Terms of Service — including inaccurate information, fraudulent content, or prohibited conduct. If you believe your listing was removed in error, contact us at support@cargeaux.com.

Do I need to disclose disaster history?

Yes. Louisiana law and Cargeaux policy require all sellers to complete a disaster history disclosure for every vehicle listed. Knowingly misrepresenting a vehicle's disaster history is a violation of our Terms and may constitute fraud under Louisiana law.

Account

How do I reset my password?

Click "Sign In" on the navigation bar, then select "Forgot password?" Enter your email address and we'll send you a reset link. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.

How do I update my account information?

Log in and go to your Dashboard, then navigate to your profile settings. You can update your name, location, contact preferences, and notification settings there.

Can I have more than one account?

No. Each person or business entity is permitted one account. Creating duplicate accounts to circumvent listing limits is a violation of our Terms and may result in all accounts being permanently banned.

Payments & Billing

How does the Geaux Featured subscription work?

Geaux Featured is a monthly subscription billed on the 1st of each month. Your listing receives a gold badge, top placement in search results, and homepage visibility. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

How do I cancel my Geaux Featured subscription?

Delete your listing before the 1st of the month and your subscription will be automatically cancelled. We cannot issue prorations or refunds for partial billing months. If you experience issues cancelling, contact us at support@cargeaux.com before the 1st.

Does Cargeaux process payments between buyers and sellers?

No. Cargeaux is a marketplace only. All payments between buyers and sellers are handled directly between those parties. We do not hold, escrow, or process any funds in connection with vehicle transactions.

What payment methods does Cargeaux accept for listing fees?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. We do not accept cash, checks, or payment apps for listing fees.

Safety

Where should I meet a buyer or seller?

Always meet in a well-lit public location during daytime hours. Police station parking lots, bank parking lots, and busy shopping centers are ideal. Never meet at your home or at an isolated location. Bring someone with you if possible.

How should I handle test drives?

Sellers should verify the buyer's driver's license and photograph it before any test drive. Keep the route short and stay in the vehicle or ride along. Never allow an unsupervised test drive. Buyers should ensure the vehicle is insured before driving.

What is the safest way to accept payment?

Cash transactions should take place inside a bank during business hours. Cashier's checks must be verified at the issuing bank before you release the vehicle — verified in person, not by phone or online. Never release a title before payment is fully confirmed. Be extremely wary of overpayment schemes or requests to wire funds.

Someone is asking me to pay via Zelle/wire/gift card before seeing the vehicle. Is this safe?

No. Any request for upfront payment before an in-person meeting is almost certainly a scam. Legitimate buyers and sellers do not require advance payment. Report suspicious activity to us at support@cargeaux.com and to your local law enforcement.

Technical

How many photos can I upload per listing?

Up to 7 photos per listing. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, and WebP. Maximum 10MB per photo. Clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles significantly increase buyer interest.

My listing isn't showing up in search. What's wrong?

Make sure your listing status is "active" — check your Dashboard. Also verify your parish selection is correct. If you're still having trouble, contact us at support@cargeaux.com with your listing ID.

How do I contact a seller?

Open any listing and click the message button to send the seller a message through Cargeaux's anonymous messaging system. You'll be notified when they reply. Some sellers also choose to display their email or phone number directly on their listing.
